Setting up Windows 2000 to connect to PlantageNet

From your desktop, open (double-click on) "My Computer"

Open the "Control Panels" folder

Find and Open "Network and Dialup Connections"

Double-click on "Create a new connection"

click Next

Choose "Dial up to the Internet"

click Next

Choose "I want to set up my Internet connection manually"

click Next

Choose "I connect through a phone line and modem"

click Next

Uncheck "Use area code and dialing properties", then type in the area code and phone number that you wish to dial into, including
the area code, but not a "1", ALL in the phone number box.

Click Next

Where prompted, type in your Username and password. BE SURE TO TYPE YOUR USERNAME IN THE FORMAT "username@pil.net" OR YOU WILL GET A PASSWORD ERROR!

Click Next

In the "Connection Name" box, type: PIL (POP location name) Where the POP location is determined by the number you dial into. (See our dialin number list for the appropriate number for you.) Determine which number you should use, and type (for example) "PIL Line Lexington", "PIL Philadelphia", "PIL New Hope", or whichever is applicable to you.

Click Next

When/If asked "Do you want to set up an Internet mail account now?", select "No".

Click Next

Click Finish.

Right-click on the new icon that you just created and click "create shortcut"; when prompted whether you want this shortcut on your desktop, click "yes"

Right-click on the connection icon again, click "properties", select "Networking", click "Settings" and UNCHECK the item marked "Netgotiate Multilink...etc"

Click OK. You're done.
