Setting up Windows XP to connect to PlantageNet

Click the Start button

Choose "My Computer"

Right-click on "My Network Places" and select "Properties" from the drop-down list.

Choose "Create a new connection"

click Next

Choose "Connect to the Internet"

click Next

Choose "Set up my connection manually"

click Next

Choose "Connect using a dial-up modem"

click Next

In the "ISP Name" box, type: PIL (POP location name) Where the POP location is determined by the number you dial into. (See our dialin number list for the appropriate number for you.) Determine which number you should use, and type (for example) "PIL Line Lexington", "PIL Philadelphia", "PIL New Hope", or whichever is applicable to you.

Click Next

Type in the phone number that you wish to dial into, including
the area code, but not a "1"

Click Next

Where prompted, type in your Username and password (you will need to confirm the password where indicated) BE SURE TO TYPE YOUR USERNAME IN THE FORMAT "username@pil.net" OR YOU WILL GET A PASSWORD ERROR!

UNcheck the box that says "Turn on the Internet Connection Firewall for this connection". This "feature" tends to break things, from our experience.

Click Next

In the box labeled "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop", check that box.

Click Finish. You're done.
